The auspicious occasion of Navaratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm among the Hindu community. It is observed four times in a year, namely: Chaitra Navratri, Sharadiya Navratri and two Gupt Navratris. On the auspicious occasion of Gupt Navratri, the ten Mahavidyas (or forms) of Goddess Durga are worshipped. All the forms of Ma Durga are worshipped in the ten days of Gupt Navratri. It is believed that worshipping the Goddess during this sacred time brings results. These nine days are also considered very significant for tantric practices. Astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram from Ayodhya explained that this Gupt Navratri will be celebrated on the month of Ashadha – beginning on July 6 – and will continue till July 15, according to the Hindu Calendar. Adding to it, he mentioned that it is a good time to carry out tantric rituals. The famous astrologer mentioned that performing certain rituals on the occasion of this auspicious day can help to remove various obstacles and overcome problems in life.
On the first day of the sacred occasion, tie rice grains (Akshat) and cowries (Kauri) in a red cloth and place them in a safe place or where you keep your money and valuable items. Worship it for nine days. It is believed that practising this ritual helps a person to overcome financial issues in life. Thousands of people also keep fast to worship all the forms of Goddess Durga.
During these nine days, one should offer lotus flowers at the feet of Goddess Durga and chant Vedic mantras to get good results, as it is believed that performing these rituals pleases the Goddess. Additionally, it is also said that performing certain rituals helps a person get out of sorrows in life.
On this auspicious occasion, the ten Mahavidyas worshipped are Goddess Tripur Bhairavi, Goddess Dhumavati, Goddess Baglamukhi, Goddess Kali, Goddess Tara, Goddess Tripura Sundari, Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, Goddess Chhinnamasta, Goddess Matangi and Goddess Kamala.
